The Myth of the Monster

The history of the Loch Ness monster is intense. Whether you believe in the myth or not, it is inevitable that you have come across come literature on the subject. As for my position, I do not believe in old Nessy. To me, it is more than likely just one of those things that spiralled out of control through history. I do not claim to be an expert on the matter, nor do I care to try. I will respect your opinion, but I will also question your reasoning. Yet, with that being said, I can say that I have it on good grounds that there is no such thing. I have been to the lake, and even swam in it. I did not fear the monster, or even catch a glimpse of anything closely resembling it. Sure I saw some fish, but nothing that would constitute anything close to a monster.

The myth is still alive and has many followers, as became apparent when speaking with locals at a pub near our Edinburgh city centre hotel. While some of the locals do believe in the Loch Ness monster, it is unclear why they believe what they do. It seems to be one of those things that has just been passed down through the generations. Regardless, our stay at the Edinburgh city centre hotel was quite similar to our stay at a Central Glasgow hotel. You have those that believe, and those that see the issue as ridiculous. Some of the staff members at our Central Glasgow hotel even found the topic hilarious. We had some good laughs over the possibility of the monster, but it all came across as a giant hoax.

Whether you believe in the monster or not, Scotland is a place where you can express your opinions about nearly anything. There will always be someone to talk with, as they are very warm and friendly people.
