What To Do In Scotland

Scotland is a superb place to visit because when you do so you will find a nation with a rich culture that is ancient at the same time as being vibrantly modern. Here are my top tips for how to enjoy your time in this exceptional country:

  • Go whale spotting. There are humpbacks migrating around August so this is the best time to do this activity. Get a boat to the Isle of Egg and you will see loads of them. You can take a picnic and enjoy it on the deck of the boat
  • Visit the Lochs. The ar a surrounding the Lochs attracts so many visitors each year not just because they are all searching for the Loch Ness monster. There is also exceptional scenery for walking and the natural wind tunnel created by the mountains surrounding Loch Lothan make for ideal sailing conditions. You can also go fishing and there are dozens of pubs in the local area where you can enjoy a lunch of haggis washed down with ale and whisky.
  • For short breaks Scotland also has various cities that you could visit. I would personally recommend going to Edinburgh in August as this is when the Fringe, Book and Film festivals are all occurring at the same time. Make sure that you book your accommodation well in advance however. You can have a look at the available options online by googling ‘hotel breaks Scotland Edinburgh August’.
  • Go on a whisky tasting tour of the entire nation. Each area has a local distillery producing many world-renowned blended and single-malts so make sure that you develop your pallet by trying them all. I would especially recommend the Glenfiddich twelve-year old as well as anything from the Strathilsa distillery.
