Innsbruck is widely known for its ski resorts, but surprisingly, this town has a lot of historical heritage while being small and remote place at first glance. The old town with the beautiful buildings rising there, the bridge and the overall elegance bring a lot of charm to the Tyrolean capital.
The museums of Innsbruck have significant amount of artefacts exposed and are collaborating with the guides provided by hotel Innsbruck. Perhaps the most famous of the museums is the Ambras castle. Situated in the hills above Innsbruck, the Castle of Ambras is one of the most important sights of the city. Its cultural and historical importance is closely connected with Archduke Ferdinand II and was a residence of his from 1563 to 1595. The castle was used as the official residence of the archduke's untitled wife Philippine as well as a place for Ferdinand to house his collections of weapons, armour, portraits, and curiosities. In the Lower Castle are the Chamber of Art and Curiosities, the armouries and the Spanish Hall. The Upper Castle has about 300 portraits from the 15th to the 19th century, including a contemporary of Napoleon Bonaparte.
The Tyrolean State Museum is also known as the Ferdinandeum and comprises seven collections. In addition, the Museum in the Armoury and the natural history collection also belong to the Ferdinandeum. The main collections of the Tyrolean State Museum cover: history from prehistoric times through the Roman era to the Early Middle Ages; art and crafts from Romanesque through Gothic to Modern; the Netherlands collection and music room with Jakob Stainer instruments; library and various works of art.
Other interesting museums are the Museum of Popular Art and the Alpine Club Museum.
Hotel Innsbruck is the best place for you to spend a magnificent vacation in the Tyrolean capital.
